Wherever you work, safety should be your number one concern. As much as we want it to be – it?s not just about looking good. NecktieEmporium.com also wants to encourage your safety as well. So while you?re looking good in one of our spiffy zipper ties for men, keep these words of advice in mind.
Working around machinery. Keep your neck tie tucked in or remove it when nearing extremely dangerous machinery. You can also wear a clip on tie, which will make removal a lot easier if you should end up in a dangerous situation. What classifies as dangerous? Anything that is fed material, uses sharp gears, or has fast moving parts that could catch your necktie.
Working around fashion conscious people. The safest thing you can do is always make sure your tie matches your outfit, and you?re not committing a fashion faux pas. One bad tie day, and you?ll be ?that person? for years to come.
Working in or around crazy labs or experiments. If you hear someone saying, ?Which object on the puppet will be the next to blow up?? get far away. You never know if it?ll end like it did for Bunsen on The Muppet Show! Also, try to not be the one wearing the exploding necktie.

On Opposite Day anything and everything is possible! Wear stripes and plaid together, eat spaghetti with a knife, dance on your hands or write everything backwards!
Opposite Day is also a time for breaking all the dress code rules that may have you all TIEd up! This means little boys aren’t wearing boys ties but mens ties. (Which makes us wonder then, who wears the boys ties?)
Some people will celebrate Opposite Day on January 24 – but because it is Opposite Day you can celebrate whenever you feel like! So next time you feel like wearing a novelty tie to work, simply call ahead letting the office know it’s Opposite Day – they can celebrate too!
Whenever you do decide to celebrate Opposite Day, feel free to wear the exact opposite tie that you regular would.
- Going to work? Find your most wacky novelty tie and wear it over your favorite graphic tee shirt for a very formal look.
- Switch ties with your son. While you’re borrowing one of his cute boys ties, see if you can borrow one of his plastic lunch pails for the day too!

When it comes to our zipper ties for men, we don’t like to pick favorites, extra long ties, bow ties for men, or even our novelty ties. We aren’t shy about admitting how much we love December, and National Tie Month. National Tie Month happens each year for one simple reason – there are more formal tie events in December than in any other month! (Though secretly we also think it has to do with the fact that ties make great Christmas gifts for dad too, but more on that next week!)
So how can you celebrate Tie Month?
- Have all of your guy’s ties cleaned and pressed – ready for the holiday parties!
- Throw your own black tie party! Sure, there will be Christmas parties but why not step up your dress code with a formal dinner, complete with fancy Hors d’oeuvre, and bow tie pasta for dinner!
- Go out for Tai food in your best tie!
