Neckties: The Most Important Part of Any Man’s Wardrobe

Thursday, January 30th, 2014

Style isn’t about trends, but instead it revolves around classic looks that are timeless, tested and true. A suit is one of the most long running components of classic style, and the necktie is not far behind. The necktie, whether a traditional tie or clip on tie is one of the style variables that truly pulls any look together, and is an important and vital part of any stylish man’s wardrobe. Here a few reasons why the necktie is an important menswear accessory every man should own:

  • A necktie garners respect! Looking through history, many of the most powerful men we’re always seen wearing a necktie. From presidents to CEOs, the necktie is the one common denominator we can all share with these lucrative and powerful people.
  • Neckties help a man exude confidence. Wearing a necktie with confidence, much like any piece of clothing can really help a man find his natural and stylish swagger. Don’t believe us? Find a tie that speaks to your tastes at and pair it with your favorite suit and see how much more confidence you’ll have.
  • Men who wear ties are often in professional fields and maintain a professional career. When men are seeing wearing a tie, it is assumed that they are matured and professional.
  • Neckties just look great! Why else would you wear one? Wearing a necktie can pull any look together and even separate you from the norm. People that dress well are often treated with more respect and get noticed more than the average Joe in the ripped jeans and tee shirt.

Wearing a necktie shows those around you that you like to go the extra mile. From job interviews to landing a job, wearing a tie everyday will show people that you actually care and are willing to go the extra mile. Tie Bar 101

Monday, January 20th, 2014

Some love them, others despise them, but a tie bar can truly take your look to the next level. Whether wearing a clip on tie, or traditional necktie, a tie bar is a fun accessory that can transform your look and take you to the next level of being a well-dressed gentleman.  A tie bar should extend ½ to ¾ of the way across the width of your necktie. If you’re a fan of a skinny necktie, it’s best to choose a tie bar that is made to be worn with skinny ties. A wide tie bar will make your skinny tie look unkempt and undistinguished. The reason to consider a tie bar is to look more refined and polished, so choosing the correct size is extremely important.  Never wear a tie bar that extends the full width of your tie. A more classic man will probably opt for a wider tie bar to coordinate with a wider necktie, but a slimmer tie bar looks great with wide ties as well.

The placement of your tie bar can truly make or break the look of your tie. Wearing a tie bar close to the knot is far too high, and placing the bar too low will look silly. It’s best to aim somewhere in the middle, parallel with from where your arm pit ends. This is the perfect place to clip the bar for a perfectly stylish look. Tie bars also come in a variety of colors, but it’s best to stick with classic silver or even gold. Stay away from novelty tie bars, as they can appear juvenile and un-stylish.

A tie bar can be worn for at any occasion and for any reason! If you’re looking to truly upgrade your style, consider placing a tie bar on your collection of neckties or clip on ties.

The Stylish Man’s Guide to Wearing a Scarf

Wednesday, January 15th, 2014

winter-fashionBesides a beautiful and warm top coat, and perfectly tied necktie or clip on tie, another great menswear accessory that is often overlooked is the scarf. Now that winter is at its worst, and the temperature is dropping all over the hemisphere, it’s time to add a scarf to your wardrobe rotation. There are numerous ways to tie a scarf, much like a necktie, but is here to make it just a tad bit easier. Below are our favorite ways to tie a scarf:

  • Simply fold the scarf in half length-wise and wrap it around your neck, making a loop on one side, pull the loose ends through. This is the easiest and most classic way to tie a scarf, and looks great with a cozy sweater and down filled jacket or a dapper suit.
  • Drape the scarf around your neck, allowing one side to hang lower than the other. Wrap the longer end loosely around your neck and you’re ready to go. You can adjust how long or loose you want the scarf, by simply pulling on the knot.
  • While wearing a suit or blazer, drape the scarf around your neck and over your coat. Unbutton your jacket, and place one end of the scarf over the other, button up over the ends, and you’re ready for your day. This specific style of scarf tying is often referred to as the ivy leaguer.
  • Much like tying an ascot, you can tie a scarf in a similar manner. Lay the scarf around your neck so both ends are even. Bring one end over the other and make a single knot. Drape the front end of the scarf over the back and adjust as tight or loose as you prefer.
  • Perhaps the easiest way to wear a scarf is to drape the scarf over your neck, bring one side over the shoulder, and get on with your day. Similar to the way a classic pilot would wear a scarf, this specific style is perfect for a laid back and on-the-go look.

When it comes to looking your best, choose!
